Regulatory & Patent

Has MediVac received regulatory approval for the use of the MetaMizer?

MediVac’s clinical and sharps waste conversion technology has been approved by the NSW Health Department and QLD EPA for use as a clinical waste treatment device. While formal approval is not required in the Northern Territory, South Australia and Western Australia, these States have been provided with copies of the NSW decision. Relevant health authorities in Victoria, the ACT and Tasmania are expected to issue similar approvals pursuant to their own procedures.

The device utilises a pressure vessel and steam generator, the designs for which are certified by the National Occupational Health and Safety Standard for Plant and is recognised in all Australian States.

Each overseas market has individual regulatory requirements although we do not anticipate significant hurdles in the major markets we intend to target.

Is MediVac’s technology adequately protected by patents?

MediVac’s core technology and its devices are protected and are progressing through the prosecution process which leads to granted patents in a normal manner. To date, patents have been granted in Australia, the US and Taiwan.
